How we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.
Site-owner note (delete before launch): this is a reasonable starting draft based on standard PIPEDA obligations for a Canadian accounting practice. It is not legal advice. Have it reviewed — and confirm the retention period and named service providers — before publishing.

1. Who we are
M Setia Accounting Inc. (“MSA CPA”, “we”, “us”) is an accounting practice located at 27658 Railcar Cres, Abbotsford, BC, V4X 0B8, Canada. We are the organization responsible for personal information collected through this website and in the course of providing accounting and tax services.
Privacy questions can be directed to info@msacpa.ca or 604-625-6260.
2. The law we follow
We handle personal information in accordance with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable British Columbia privacy legislation, together with the confidentiality obligations imposed on Chartered Professional Accountants by CPA Canada and CPABC.
3. What we collect
We collect only what we need in order to provide the services you have engaged us for:
- Identifying information — name, address, date of birth, Social Insurance Number, business number, and marital status.
- Contact information — email address and telephone number.
- Financial information — income slips, receipts, bank and credit card statements, corporate records, payroll data, and banking details where you have asked us to arrange direct deposit.
- Family information — details of a spouse and dependants where these affect your tax position.
- Website information — the contents of any form you submit to us.
4. Why we collect it
- To prepare and file tax returns and financial statements on your behalf.
- To represent you in dealings with the Canada Revenue Agency, where you have authorized us to do so.
- To provide bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory services.
- To communicate with you about your file, including deadline reminders.
- To meet our own legal, regulatory, and professional record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Consent
We collect personal information with your knowledge and consent, which you provide when you engage us and when you complete our intake and consent forms. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice — although doing so may prevent us from continuing to act for you.
6. Disclosure to others
We disclose your personal information only:
- to the Canada Revenue Agency and other tax authorities, in the course of filings made on your behalf;
- to service providers who support our practice (for example, tax preparation software and secure document storage), each bound to protect it to a comparable standard;
- where we are required or permitted to do so by law, or by a professional regulator; and
- with your express consent — for example, when you ask us to send financial statements to a lender.
7. Security
We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted transmission, access controls, and secure disposal. Sensitive documents are exchanged by arrangement rather than by ordinary email, because ordinary email is not a secure channel.
Please do not send your Social Insurance Number, banking details, or identification documents by email or through a web form. Call 604-625-6260 and we will arrange a secure method.
8. Retention
We retain client records for the period required by the Income Tax Act and by our professional obligations — generally at least seven years from the end of the tax year to which they relate — after which they are securely destroyed.
9. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, or ask questions about how it has been used. Write to info@msacpa.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Cookies and website analytics
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Where an embedded third-party component is used — such as a scheduling calendar or a reviews widget — that provider may set its own cookies, governed by its own privacy policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
